![]() ![]() If I were to have a couple of favorite characters that I've developed during my reading, they would be Camille Desmoulins and Georges-Jacques Danton, just because both have a charming wit to them. I also liked the fact that there was a cameo by the Marquis De Sade and Marie Antionette, who were two highly disliked figures in France during the Revolution. Mantel writes fluidly and brings to life the dialogue and violence that plagued the attitudes of the figures portrayed. ![]() ![]() In this review, I'm going to flash back to one of her earlier novels, titled A Place of Greater Safety, which was written several years earlier and focuses on the stories of three men getting involved in the French Revolution.īefore focusing on how the characters interact with the French Revolution, I would like to say this novel does a very good job at depicting the craziness of that time period. Those who know this author should have some familiarity with a couple of her later works in the Thomas Crowmwell trilogy, two works being Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies, which won the MAN Booker Prize in 20. ![]()
